Theater Classes for Kids, Teens & Adults - 2011

The following are classes, camps, and workshops for adults, teens and kids.

The programs are offered in three categories: morning programs, afternoon programs, and evening programs.

Morning Programs


Create A Musical           Ages 9-13

Instructor: Joey & Jenny Pipia

Theme, Structure, Story, Conflict, Resolution, Outrageous fun, and SONG! Students will create a musical, rehearse it, and perform it at the week’s end. Musical experience is not required.
June 20th - June 25th, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

Tuition: $155/wk.

 

DramaBugs                     Ages 3-5      

Instructor: Joey Pipia

Story based theater games make this camp an inspiring start for the youngest actors. Campers learn to listen and work with others to create stories that thrive. Culminates with a presentation at the week’s end.

June 27 - July 2nd, 9:00 -11:00 am

Tuition: $125/wk  

 

Create A Play 1              Ages 9-13        

Instructor: Joey Pipia

Theme, Structure, Story, Conflict, Resolution, and Outrageous fun! Students will create a play, rehearse it, and perform it at the week’s end. Writing is not a requisite.

July 11th - July 15th, 10:00 am -1:00 pm 

Tuition: $155/wk  


Circus Arts 1                     Ages 5-7

Instructor: Karen Quest

Run away with the circus! Each program offers a unique mix of adventurous circus arts. Culminates in a workshop presentation of the work learned.

July 26th - 29th, 9 am to 11 am: tightrope, juggling, tumbling, aerial silk, trapeze, unicycle, stilts. (This is a four-day camp.)     

Tuition: $135/wk 

 

Theater Art                      Ages 9-13

Instructor: Thaddeus Jurczynski

The fine art of theater; campers make reed sculptures that are inhabited by a character of his or her own creation. (And yes, everyone keeps their own creature).

August 1st - August 5th, 10 am - 1:00 pm.

Tuition: $155/wk  

 

Adventures in Acting 1   Ages 4-6                  

Instructor: Joey Pipia

Imaginations run wild in this exploration of improvisation and acting. Using non-competitive theater games, kids will learn to focus their energy to create theater. This camp ends with a presentation of the work learned.

Session 1: Aug. 16th - Aug. 19th, 9:00 am to 11:00 am (four days only)  

Tuition: $135/wk

 

Afternoon Programs

Mr. Peabody’s Magic Show   Ages 9-13 

Instructor: Joey Pipia

Each camper learns a knock-your-socks-off magic trick, and is in the play: the Amazing Mysto is a no-show for the family night assembly at school. What will the kids do? Never fear, our intrepid custodian knows a few tricks...the kids take charge and put on the show. 

June 27 - July 2, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

In this exciting camp, kids will explore the fundamentals of music through songs, games, stories, and movement.

Evening Programs

 

Physical Comedy Workshop     Ages Teen to Adult     

Instructor: Joey Pipia

Acting students will learn to sharpen their physical skills, actors will explore a range of comic styles and directors will discover a number of tools for bringing comedy to life. 

July 11th -15th, 6 pm - 8 pm 

Tuition: $95/wk 

 

Guerilla Theater             Ages 13-18

Instructor: Joey Pipia

Play with your audience’s perception of reality by catapulting yourself into this age old theater of the streets. Emphasis is placed on conceptual development and creative risk. Last summer’s "Guerilla Theater" was front page news in the Peninsula Daily News (this fall’s was covered in the Leader)

August 16th to 20th (Tues - Sat), 6 pm - 8 pm

Tuition: $95/wk
